What Is an SFC in Vue?

Vue Single File Components (SFCs) are one of the most important concepts in Vue. Vue is a popular JavaScript framework, and SFCs are the structure that makes using it and developing with it easier. Their main characteristics:

  1. Single-file structure: a Vue SFC is one file, usually saved with the .vue extension, containing the three main parts of a component: template, script and style.
  2. Template section: defines the component's HTML structure; Vue's reactive features and directives are used here.
  3. Script section: holds the JavaScript — the component's data, methods, computed properties, lifecycle hooks and so on.
  4. Style section: the component's own styles, in CSS or a language such as SCSS. The "scoped" attribute keeps the styles limited to this component.
  5. Modularity and reuse: the SFC structure makes components modular and reusable; each one is complete and independent, which eases maintenance.
  6. Ease of development: SFCs simplify component-based development; structure, behaviour and style can be seen and managed in one file.

SFCs bring efficiency and order to modern web development and are one of the cornerstones of Vue's popularity.
